Black Friday is around the corner! Before you go crazy spending money, here are some things to ensure you get real deals during this retail event.

It’s *totally* possible to score some real deals on Black Friday. But it requires some work! Here are five tips to help you save cash when you spend during this annual retail event.

TIP #1: Start preparing early

Many retailers push their prices up just before Black Friday and reduce them on the day to appear discounted. Get an idea of prices in advance.

TIP #2: Make an online wishlist

Bookmark links to products you want to buy. Many e-commerce sites allow you to compile a wishlist so everything is in one convenient place.

TIP #3: Subscribe to newsletters

Also to be done in advance, this can let you know when specials become live. Some brands even allow subscribers early access to discounts.

TIP #4: Only get items you need

It’s never a good idea to buy things you don’t need just because they are on sale because that’s still spending (and you might have regrets!).

TIP #5: Wake up (very!) early

A lot of the sales go live at midnight, so you could stay up. Getting up early can help you secure your desired items before everyone else wakes up.

TIP #6: Don’t forget Cyber Monday

It’s not just the Friday where you can save as you spend. This event usually goes on throughout the weekend and ends with Cyber Monday for online sales.
