Bold, big, fluffy brows are here to stay! Here are the products you need – and how to use them – for a long-lasting look.

Not that many years ago, pencil-thin, overly-plucked eyebrows were the only acceptable way to wear them. Thank goodness those days are long gone and fluffy, more natural-looking brows seem to be here to stay.

Not everyone, however, was blessed at birth with a bold and luscious set. Fortunately, there are several makeup products – and ways to use them – that can create the illusion of full and perfect brows.

Here are the products you need and the techniques necessary for you to put your best brows forward.

STEP #1: Groom the area

While naturally fluffy brows don’t require as much maintenance, you still need to do a little bit of plucking and trimming to create a matching and neat brow shape. Use a spoolie (or mascara) brush to brush the hairs upwards to help you see which ones need to be trimmed.

STEP #2: Prime the hairs

Now it’s time to position the hairs to amp up the fluffiness of the finished look. For this, prime your brows using a clear brow gel until all the hairs are coated. Then, brush them in an upward direction to see where there are gaps that need to be filled in.

STEP #3: Fill in gaps

Most people have at least one spot on their brows where there is no hair, either temporarily or permanently. To make them appear full, use a fine-tipped brow pen or pencil and create hair-like strokes to mimic the hair. Use a shade closest to your natural brow colour.

STEP #4: Set in place

Once you’ve achieved a full look, it’s time to set it in place so that it goes the distance. Reach for your favourite clear or tinted brow gel or an eyebrow wax or pomade and put the product on a spoolie. Run it through your brows for a long-lasting look.

STEP #5: Clean it up

The final step in making your eyebrows bold and beautiful is to clean up the area around your brows for a neat finish. Use concealer and a small makeup brush to tidy up the lines. You can also apply some highlighter on your brow bone to make your work pop.
